Q?
Where are we flying?
-
A.
Our main base will be in Brasov, as this is the Mecca of paragliding in Romania. We will use the 3 main takeoffs:
- Bunloc: the most accessible place, with a cable car running especially for pilots.
- Postavaru: a more spectacular takeoff, usually used when the wind is blowing from south. It takes considerably more time to get there, but it can be used for early take-off, for the longer XC flights. Bunloc is not flyable with strong south wind, then Postavaru is the alternative.
- Magura Branului: the most picturesque site, over remote villages, near big mountains and castles. From Brasov it takes 1h by car and 30 min by foot to reach the take off. It is great for evening soaring.
Depending on the weather and the experience of participating pilots, we can fly in the high Mountains of Fagaras, a great place for spectacular XC flights.
If the weather is bad here, we can go and stay in other regions with fine flight conditions. -
Q?
What should I bring with me?
-
A.
This is what you should take with you.
- Paragliding licence in copy and original)
- Third party liability insurance (we can also provide it to you in advance, on demand)
- Radio on 130-180 Mhz and/or 400-520 Mhz (PMR are also accepted)
- A smart phone. Preferably with this retrieving software installed: GPS Find Me for Android.
- Of course, your fully paragliding gear including your rescue parachute and paragliding helmet.
-
Q?
Do I need any experience ?
-
A.
In order to join Transylvania Flying tours you need to be a fully licensed paragliding pilot with some thermic flying experience (at least 30h air time). Our take-off and landing places will be in general fairly accessible but generally you will need to rely on your experience to make the most out of your trip.
Please note that we will provide safety briefing before every flight, including mete condition, map of the terrain, landing spots, etc. However this is not a flying course and air to air guidance will be minimal from the organisers.
